On December 12, 2017, the Torah world suffered the devastating and irreplaceable loss of Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman. Rav Shteinman was considered, by the vast majority of Orthodox Jews to be the Gadol Hador, the leader of the generation.
Rav Shteinman was one of the greatest men of the last 100 years and his passing leaves a gaping void that will never fully be filled. Many tears were shed by Jews all over the world as they heard of his passing and even later as the reality began to sink in more and more. He is terribly missed.
Here are some of the areas in which Rav Shteinman’s greatness was known: his deep and vast Torah knowledge; his laborious and dedicated Torah study; his simplicity and distance from all the pleasures of the world; his humility that came to the fore even stronger when the contents of his will became known; his sharp and discerning mind; and his pleasant ways.
May his memory serve as a blessing and may G-d help us recover somehow from this catastrophic loss.
